@@AntiSocialRailfanProductions yes they are that was a long train in fact I got 165 at night back in January and it was long but not quite as long as the one you caught

165 in 2024 isn't the same train as 165 from 2017. Today, 165 is a Linwood to Roanoke train. in 2017, 165 was a Linwood to Chattanooga Tn train. It wasn't too long before 165 ran the S Line to to Morristown, then hit the Bristol line to Knoxville where they'd change crew and take the Knoxville west Dist to Chattanooga.

@@norfolksouthern3800 Yes. That is one reason NS rerouted 165 via Roanoke, to help out 195 with it's Roanoke traffic.

Back in 2017, 211 could come by in the mornings, especially on Sundays. Now as 25A, they usually run by KM from 23:00 to 01:00. But 25A can be late as I caught them in Greer This Sat right at 06:00.

Early Birds get the trains. 36Q was a Linwood to Allentown Pa manifest. They usually departed anywhere from 05:00 to 07:00. 36Q was abolished back in 2019 when PSR was implemented.

174 would come through a few hours later. There were a couple of locals who speculated it was a late P138, but didn't know for sure. 138 would also pass later that afternoon.

Not for sure. The NS and SC area guy could be right about it being 174, the other people could be right about it being 138. One thing for sure, it was a northeast regional.

In the summer of 2018, 154 originated at Irondale (Birmingham) and terminated at Linwood, which what NS is doing now. But right after the implementation of TOP 21, 154 terminated in Greensboro for a couple years.

I spent quite a bit of time at Between Maybelle and Five Row back in 17 and 18. There were twice the trains back then. It is a good place to start off, and refine your methods of recording. Once you get some recording time behind you, you can move around. The the Ex N&W and the Ex Virginian bewteen Roanoke and Elliston Va area has more traffic and it's not that far away.

@@AntiSocialRailfanProductions yeah I used to sit in the parking lot at the restaurant up there on Saturdays and Sundays and watch the trains go by from 2014 when I was 8 years old till December of 2022 when I was 16 years old then I started to stand where you are except I park on the ramp up there that’s a nice area to railfan in fact my house is only 10 minutes from there

The New Jersey Central lines HU. I've cammed that one a few times. It looks a lot like the COG HU.

It was. Sounds like only the Dash 9 and Dash 8 were online pulling that long train up the grade in to Lexington.

@@norfolksouthern3800 March 10 2017 was a Friday. At that time (Mar 2017), the best day to catch 135 was Sunday. 135 didn't run on Saturday so the Sunday 135 would be doubled.

I got a lot of trains I got NS 24X running elephant style and a very long 28R with a meet of Amtrak 77 and NS 119 but they stopped

It is an easy error to make. For example, i thought the CSX ES40DCs were 4400 HP, and they aren't. I'm sure you could find a old Vid of mine with a CSX ES40DC mis id'd as an ES44DC. NS upgraded all their ES40DCs to 4400HP but CSX never did.

No. I cam outbounds only at Maybelle. I didn't stay late enough to catch 119 or 165. Now that ATCS has bit the dust, I have to rely on radio to track trains. It's all I can do to catch inbound at CP Lee. If that pipe train hadn't been pacing a little, I wouldn't have made it to Lee to cam them.

@@norfolksouthern3800 "Lee" is the name of the control point at the North End of Linwood yard where I recorded the Pipe train. I can't say why it's called "Lee".

The CSX Charlotte Sub isn't very busy, but Those Ethanol trains that come through can have some noteworthy power.
